What Happened? The Rise and Fall of Theory
This chapter looks at the rise and fall of theory in literary criticism. It discusses how the gravitation of writers to the university setting changed the respective status of creative writing and criticism. It suggests that the reclamation of literature from academic purists is not something to be concerned about because as long as there are writers prose and poetry will continue to find their way to us.
