The Writing Life
This chapter considers writing about one's life or biography. It analyzes why one's thoughts and feelings must be shared with others and explains that the writing life is not life as they know it and no explanation can justify the writer's behavior. It also suggests that the writing life is a life intent on acquiring an identity as both artist and individual.
