Majoring in Deconstruction
This chapter paints a satirical picture of education in the USA through Earle Joad's efforts to obtain a first-rate education. He created a new academic persona by hacking into his high school's database and creating glowing letters of recommendation, which he then sent off to the top universities. He eventually gained entry at a top university on a full scholarship. The chapter also details his college experiences and life after graduation.
