This chapter takes a look at social violence, which is defined to intentionally destructive behavior that is aimed at defenseless civilians. The discussion tries to provide an understanding of social violence in order to prevent and control this type of behavior. Group psychology, the regressive pull of ideologies, historical trauma, dehumanization, and terrorism are some of the concepts encountered in this chapter.
