This chapter focuses on the death of brewery magnate Freddy Heineken, whose obituary was published in the January 2002 issue of the International Herald Tribune. It explains that aside from bringing his family's eponymous beer into a prominent place in the mass market and accumulating a personal fortune of $5.6 billion, Heineken had also been a songwriter, record producer, and jazz fan. The chapter discusses the author's meeting with Heineken, when the beer magnate was only sixty-seven years old.
