This chapter discusses the risk factors and precursors of juvenile delinquency followed by an overview of some programs designed to prevent delinquency. It describes prevention programs directed to pregnant mothers and infants, preschool children, and elementary school children. Some of these programs, such as the Perry Preschool Program, were effective in terms of improving educational achievement and reducing delinquent behavior.
