To the Memory of I. L. Peretz
This chapter presents the text of Lamed Shapiro's short fiction titled Smoke. It explains that the story is about the smoking habit of a Jew named Menasha, who studied in the synagogue and later became son-in-law to Reb Shoel Marawaner. It also highlights the continuation of Menasha's addiction to cigarettes until he was on his deathbed.
