This chapter focuses on the success of Sigmund Romberg's operettas The Magic Melody and Blossom Time. It explains that The Magic Melody was produced by Wilner-Romberg Productions and that though the company ended up being a commercial failure it provided Romberg with the chance to produce original works according to his own dictates. Blossom Time was produced by the Shuberts, which became one of their greatest successes. This chapter also describes the music in these operettas.
