Haunted by Parents

Leonard Shengold

Yale University Press

This chapter presents some of the author's observations, which he describes as not original and more philosophic or generally psychological than psychoanalytic. It covers fear of change; emotional varieties of knowing; and the genetic principle: what occurs early in physiological and in psychic development is and continues to be of momentous importance—the earlier the occurrence, the greater the effect.

Keywords:   change, knowing, genetic principle
