This chapter examines how the Greater Yellowstone Coordinating Committee (GYCC) goes about the vital leadership tasks of cooperating and demonstrating. To address management policy challenges to greater Yellowstone's sustainability, the GYCC has several tools at its disposal. These tools include its problem-solving skills, its willingness and ability to cooperate, and its ability to demonstrate its vision to the world through best practices and to build a track record of such demonstrations. The GYCC cooperates with the managers of its constituent units within the structure and operations of the committee and the federal agency bureaucratic system. It can organize its meetings and its work, and focus its attention on ways to upgrade cooperation and demonstrations substantially to capitalize on positive trends.
