Wilfred Owen returned to Bordeaux in 1914 and swiftly acquired the French accent. This chapter addresses whether he had any kind of Liverpudlian accent at this point and entirely removed this indication of his origins. There are some interesting possibilities which suggest that Owen did not write with any hint of a Liverpudlian accent in his poems.
