Internet Architecture and Intellectual Property
Internet Architecture and Intellectual Property
This chapter examines the relationship between Internet infrastructure and intellectual property rights enforcement. It also explores a separate intersection of intellectual property and Internet governance, the intellectual property embedded within Internet governance technologies rather than mediated by these technologies. Some of these embedded issues include trademark disputes over domain names; Internet standards-based patents; and trade secrecy in technologies of information intermediation.
Keywords: intellectual property rights, Internet governance, domain names, patents, information intermediation
