This chapter takes a look at traveling gods and their dualistic nature. It considers the concepts of “triumphing” and “huckstering” and uses Dionysus in an attempt to further create an image of “apostleship.” The next section considers the interpretive difficulties that are presented in a short passage of 2 Cor 2:14–17. The chapter ends with a look at the wide semantic range for Paul's use of the “triumphing-huckstering” axis, which yields some insight on this rhetorical strategy.

Keywords:   traveling gods, dualistic nature, triumphing, huckstering, Dionysus, apostleship, interpretive difficulties, rhetorical strategy
