This chapter serves as a survey of the final chapters of 2 Cor 1–9. It presents a reading of Paul's efforts to rhetorically create his personal global network of envoys that communicate the news of God's reconciliation with the Gentiles. These envoys are also tasked to request the Gentiles to respond in the form of obedience and worship. The chapter shows the similarity between Paul and the Roman Empire in gathering the support of their subjects. The concepts of the material network, imperial ideology, ambassadorship, and international relations are also discussed.
